With the addition of these characters, the game felt like watching another season of the show. These characters would serve as connections to the show and would be antagonistic or helpful to the members of House Forrester. Characters like Jon Snow, Cersei Lannister, Tyrion Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen, and even Ramsay Snow/Bolton would show up throughout the series. Players took control of five members of the house through six different chapters that forced players to make decisions that would affect the future of the house.Īlongside the members of House Forrester, many characters from Game of Thrones made an appearance voiced by their on-screen actors. The house never made an appearance in the show, but was based on a brief mention in the fifth A Song of Ice and Fire novel, A Dance with Dragons. It followed the northern house of House Forrester during the events of season three leading up to the end of season four. Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series released in 2014 and told a story alongside Game of Thrones. RELATED: Telltale Should Tackle Doctor Who Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series Held Promise With the release of House of the Dragon on the horizon, now would be the perfect time for the studio to get the license back (as it no longer owns it) and return to Westeros. The first season was received decently by fans and many wanted to see the adventures of House Forrester continue, but it seems there are currently no plans for a second season. Perhaps one of the biggest blows was the cancellation of the second season of Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series. While The Wolf Among Us 2 was revived, there has been little news on whether the studio will be able to finish its Stranger Things title. Many projects that were in the works at Telltale Games were canceled when the studio closed down, if not beforehand. While these titles are a ways off, it seems like it could be a return to form for Telltale and usher in a new wave of IP-based episodic adventures. Now, the studio is hard at work on the long-awaited The Wolf Among Us 2 and an episodic series based on The Expanse alongside the Life is Strange developer. However, that did not last long since Telltale Games was quickly relaunched under LCG Entertainment. (Telltale’s writers just don’t seem to understand her she’s portrayed as honorable to a fault in the novels and the show.) That thrusts him into more combat, but it does introduce some colorful new characters as he meets some potential new allies. After shutting its doors in 2018, that era of Telltale Games had come to a close and the time of large IP-based episodic games had seemingly ended. In Meereen, Asher’s story takes a turn for the cliche after an uncharacteristically dishonest move by Daenerys. Some weird bow-and-arrow controls messed up a hunting scene for me, though – by the time I figured them out, my prey had already escaped. His segments fill that void with a pretty good action scene and a sympathetic backstory for Cotter and his sister. Meanwhile, north of The Wall, Gared’s story makes little or no actual progress toward his goal of finding the North Grove. As always, it’s fun to try to figure out how to please Cersei’s twisted morality, and Peter Dinklage sounds more comfortable with the delivery of his voice acting than before. Mira’s part in this episode is small, but it’s made interesting by strong interactions with both Cersei and Tyrion Lannister as she’s once again forced to play a part in the battle between the siblings. Telltale didn’t do a good enough job of sowing seeds of doubt about the loyalty of Rodrick’s advisors to make it feel plausible, and as a result it felt randomly determined and arbitrary. That sounds great, but the way it worked out for me didn’t make a lot of sense based on that character’s prior actions. This episode also reveals the identity of the traitor within House Forrester – and their motivations – as determined by your choices as Rodrick. It makes me wish he weren’t so directly involved. As much fun as it is to hate such a sadistic villain, all of Rodrick’s vows of revenge against him feel ineffectual and impotent – because of his Ramsay’s role in the main Game of Thrones story, any confrontation between him and the Forresters could only end one way. Play A Nest of Vipers’ story picks up right where the last episode left off, with Ramsay Snow revisiting Ironrath to dish out more of his trademark brutality.
